ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of moxibustion in treating perimenopausal syndrome (PMS).Method Totally 108 PMS patients of yang deficiency or yin deficiency constitution were randomized into a treatment group of 56 cases and a control group of 52 cases. The treatment group was intervened by moxibustion, while the control group was by medication. The modified Kupperman Index (KI), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90), and Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) were observed before and after treatment for comparison.Result The KI score, HAMA score, SCL-90 total score, and SDS score were significantly changed in both groups after intervention (P<0.01,P<0.05). After treatment, the KI score, HAMA score, SCL-90 total score, and SDS score in the treatment group were significantly different from that in the control group (P<0.01,P<0.05).Conclusion Moxibustion is effective in treating PMS, and it can improve the anxiety and depression symptoms of the patients.

ABSTRACT

This paper identified misunderstandings of the measures taken in China to overcome the problems incurred by off-label uses (namely reliance on drug makers to modify their medicine specifications,on medical institutions to enhance their regulation and management of off-label uses, and on informed consent to avoid risks).Based on such findings, the paper named defects found with such measures, and puts forward feasible ideas and methods to make such off-label uses legitimate and reasonable. These include clarification of the legal status of the medicine specifications, encouraging authoritative guidance for off-label uses, and determining the subject of evaluation to approve the off-label uses as reasonable.Such efforts aim at helping off-label uses out of the legal difficulties.

ABSTRACT

Encouraging voluntary donation of citizens' organ is the best institutional solution for the severe shortage of organ transplantation. The policy incentives should allow donors to rescind their donation of their organ anytime before the organ is removed from their body.As long as the donor does not commit subjective offence,he/she shall be released from any legal responsibilities. This arrangement is highly significant legally and practically.

ABSTRACT

In the macrocosmic perspective, the development trend of the rights and obligations of doctors and patients is regarded as changes in the healthcare mode.In the microcosmic perspective,it is regarded as a clarification and emphasis of the informed consent of the patients as required by laws and regulations. However, medical workers tend to neglect their obligation of informing the patients of the medical expenses to be paid out of their own pocket. In this consideration, informing the patients in writing of their self-payment in medical expenses is obligatory and important,i.e,the self-payment agreement is highly important in clinical work. This paper analyzed the legal at-tributes of self-payment agreement in the aspects of both the informed consent and the signing of the medical service contract, with discussions of the tining of signature,in the hope of inspiring and helping medical workers in their clinical practice.

ABSTRACT

The unsatisfactory operation of the existing mechanism for resolving medical disputes by doctors and patients may be contributed to the instability of this mechanism, as lack of regulation constraints results in huge discrepancies of outcomes between identical cases. Specifically, the uncertainty for doctor-patient consultation in the guidelines, evaluation and decision mechanism, consultation process, and compensation calculation. In this consideration, it is recommended to elevate the mechanism stability of this consultation by means of uniform guidelines, third-party evaluation and decision, standardized consultation process, and unified compensation standard.
